In 1939 Highweek Garage was opened in the village of Highweek, Newton Abbot. Highweek Garage initially opened as a petrol filling station and car repair workshop, the service department growing over the years to include car and light commercial vehicle servicing, MOT testing, air-conditioning service and repair, four wheel wheel alignment measuring, clutch, brake and exhaust repair, and more recently, minor body work and paint repair.

The business grew with the introduction of used car sales and later, new car sales.

In 1973, Highweek Garage became Toyota Dealers and remained dealers for over 28 years. Toyota's compact car division Daihatsu, were recruiting for a dealer in the South Devon area in 2003 and Highweek Garage was appointed in December of that year. Unfortunately, Daihatsu ceased to export vehicles into the UK in 2009 and so Highweek Garage took on the Perodua Franchise, Perodua helping to fill the void left by Daihatsu as the Perodua Myvi is the Malaysian equivalent of the Daihatsu Sirion. As the Perodua Myvi is also no longer available in the UK Highweek Garage concentrates on stocking good quality, low mileage used cars, mainly Toyota and Nissan.
